Properties of Indifference Curves (1)
Indifference curve slopes downward from left to right, or an indifference curve has a negative slope: the downward slope of an indifference curve indicates that a consumer will have to curtail the consumption of one commodity if he wants to consume large quantity of another commodity to maintain the same level of satisfaction. If an indifference curve does not slope downwards, it can either be a vertical line or horizontal line or an upward sloping curve. Consider the following shapes of an indifference curve.
